The Invicta Cross Country team were in action on the 2nd October for the first event of the year, the English Schools Cross Country Cup. With a strong history of performing well in the Maidstone schools cross country event, the Invicta team were looking forward to this year’s event. The event took place at Mote Park on Friday 16th December. Conditions were typically cool, damp underfoot and exactly what you would expect for the annual run.

Well done to you all!

The team was made up from Lottie Sykes, Sadie Page, Solape Tunde-Dauda, Rachel Harris,  Izzie Geall, Grace Garrett, Kitty Worsfold, Hannah Starck, Nhyira Zigah.

County Showjumping Championships

Amelia Show Jumping (1)  Amelia simpson mcginty

Congratulations to Amelia Simpson McGinty who competed in the County Showjumping Championships.  In the warm up event she jumped a lovely double clear and came 2nd out of 63 riders, which was a brilliant result.

The following day she jumped another lovely double clear which qualified her for the next round, unfortunately, one small error in the second round stopped her from going through to the final round. All in all Amelia has done fantastically well and I can safely say that she would have been one of the youngest competitors there. This competition was against all the other winners from their counties from all over the country and the classes were huge.

Well done to Angel in 8N who represented Medway Rugby Football Club on 25 March at the Kent U13 Tournament at Priestfields, Rochester. They came 2nd overall out of 5 teams and Angel received a medal for taking part in the games!

Well done to Eloise Moliner in 9I who competed in the National Kimura Shukokai Karate Championships in Birmingham on the weekend of 17 March.

On 7 March 2018, Invicta Grammar School hosted a Year 5 Football Tournament organised by Invicta’s Sports Leaders POP group. The tournament was made up of 7 eager Year 5 teams from: St Michaels Junior, Wateringbury, Greenfields, Igtham, VIAT Aylesford and Archbishop Courtney.

The afternoon began with an opening speech detailing the rules of the tournament and some safety procedures. After this, all team members of the primary schools participated in a warm up lead by a few of the Sports Leaders, which consisted of stretching and some stuck in the mud! Then, the real tournament began, with each team playing each other once, anything could happen.

Games took place on two pitches each refereed by Sports Leaders with the schedule and timings managed by other Invicta students on the sidelines. After an entertaining few games, the winner was revealed in the medal ceremony at the end of the afternoon. The Year 5 team that came out on top were Greenfields, each of the players received a medal and had a team photo taken after the ceremony.

Well done to all of the Sports Leaders who took part in and organised the event!

Year 8 sportshall team finals

On 5 February, eight Year 8 students travelled to Medway Park to compete in the Kent School Games Sportshall Athletics Final. With 14 other teams there, we had some great track and field events and fought incredibly hard to come 4th place overall.

A big well done to: Anna, Nhyira, Mary, Carys, Emma, Zuzanna, Toni and Megan.

On 5 February 2018, eight students from Year 7 were picked to take part in the Indoor Athletics Kent Finals at Medway park. These 8 students were Charlotte, Lily, Broyney, Aoife, Amy, Ava, Josie and Amelia.

We had to compete in both track and field events. In the track events we all put in our best efforts but a very big well done to Amy, Aoife and Josie for winning their events. Unfortunately, we do not know how we did in the field Events. Overall it was a really fun afternoon and a great experience for us all with lots of effort put in. Well done girls!

On 27 January, Alice Mantle in 9G, Niamh Potts in 7A and Holly Rogers in 10I competed in the Kent County Dressage Qualifiers, in our first Invicta Equestrian Event. All of the girls did very well despite being up against some tough competition and unfavourable weather. A special well done goes to Holly Rogers for coming 7th in her arena.

On 18 January, 10 Year 7 and 8 students went to Maplesden Noakes to play in a football tournament. We played three games. Our first game was against St Simon Stock. We won this game 4-0 with Georgia Gent 8V scoring 1 goal, Mary Ashford 8T scoring 2 and Annabel Young 8T scoring 1. The games were 7 minutes each half which Invicta was proving to be the better team in both.

The second game was against MGGS with a unfortunate result of 2-0 to them. However, it was a very even game.

The third game was against Cornwallis Academy which we won 5-0. With 2 goals from Amy Connell, 2 from Mary and 1 from Annabel.

The game was tough as half way through it began hailing! We all got drenched and were very cold, however, we were the only match that kept playing! Overall, it was a great start to our 4 week tournament. Well done Invicta.

University of Kent

30 November 2017

On Wednesday 30 November, 13 students currently studying for GCSE or A Level PE, went to the University of Kent in order to participate in various fitness tests. Alice Frank in Year 13 completed a VO2 max test. This involved her running on a treadmill, which increased in speed every 2 minutes. Alice had to continue running until exhaustion in order to find out what the maximum volume of oxygen her body can use. Although a very challenging , and exhausting(!) test, Alice was brilliant and put in maximum effort throughout the test.

The students then had the opportunity to participate in the Wingate test which involved a 20 second sprint on an ergometer, which had different sized weights on to act as a resistance. This test was to measure anaerobic leg power. Out of all 13 students, Jasmine Etheridge in Year 11 achieved the best result!

The final test the students were able to complete was one for Agility. Students had to compete in pairs, to see who could block out the most lights in a given time, which also meant that reaction time was taken into account! This was the most fun and enjoyable test, and increased the competitiveness between the students.

Overall, the afternoon was very enjoyable and the students were able to put the content of the courses they are studying into context, and realised how the information they are learning, is used in a real sporting environment.

VIAT Primary School Football Tournament

30 November 2017

On Thursday 30 November, Invicta hosted a VIAT Primary School Football Tournament, which included teams from Holborough Lakes, Leybourne Chase, Kings Hill, East Borough Primary school and Aylesford. It was a very exciting tournament, with 10 minute matches being played against all the opposing Primary Schools.

Despite the freezing weather, the children were extremely well motivated and enthusiastic throughout the tournament and showed a great footballing ability. This included great saves from the goal keepers and defending players, along with some excellent shooting and attacking play.

Well done to all the teams who were involved, but a bigger congratulations to East Borough Primary School for winning all of their matches, and therefore were the overall winners of the tournament!

30 November 2017

During the lunch time, students across the school took part in the termly Activ8 challenge of Address your Stress! This involved students making and decorating their own stress balls. Although it was the coldest day of the year, with freezing temperatures, a large number of students turned up to make their stress balls outside on the Izzatt Plaza. The was a great challenge to participate in, and despite the cold, wind, and flour being blown everywhere(!) the girls thoroughly enjoyed making their stress balls.

25 November 2017

On Saturday 25 November, the U19 netball team went to Rainham School for Girls to play in the County Finals Netball Tournament and it was a very cold day at -1 degrees upon arrival! The team for the tournament included Ellie Brown, Alice Hill, Ellie Osborn, Alex Sykes, Evie Horner, Joelle Wilton, Ayishah Chaudry, Emma Worsfold and Ewelie Lifanje. We knew that the tournament was going to be a tough day, full of highly competitive matches however we were excited to see how well we could perform amongst the best schools in Kent. For the Year 13s this would be the last time that they would play for Invicta therefore the whole team put in maximum effort.

Throughout the day Invicta played 6 matches: we won three, drew one and lost two. The games that Invicta lost were incredibly close in score, with us only losing by two goals against Sevenoaks and one goal against Eltham College. Alongside the draw with Benenden this meant that Invicta finished 4th overall in Kent which is still a great achievement despite the team being slightly disappointed not to have finished higher considering the games were so tight.

The scores for each match were as follows:
Invicta vs Sevenoaks: 7-9
Invicta vs Kent College Pembury: 11-1
Invicta vs Eltham College 9-10
Invicta vs Walthamstow Hall: 15-1
Invicta vs Tunbridge Wells Grammar: 16-8
Invicta vs Benenden: 10-10

Maidstone Schools Cross Country Championships

17 November 2017

This year’s championship took in Mote Park on a lovely dry sunny day.
The Year 7 race was the first of the day and we had a strong team entered. They ran over a course of 2000m finishing with a difficult uphill climb. All of our team finished in the top 25 from a field of 60 runners with Lily and Amy  finishing 1st and 2nd overall. The team was placed first 30 points clear of the rest of the schools.
The Inters were next to run (Year 10 and 11) they competed over a 4km race and were also overall winners with runners placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th an amazing result (Charlotte, Millie, Lara, Hannah).

Finally the Juniors set off over 3km in a race of 65 runners. All of team placed in the top 20 with Invicta claiming 1st and 2nd place yet again (Izzy and Megan) and winners overall.
A great result for all of our runners many of whom will now be selected to represent the district at the Kent competition early next year.

20 November 2017

On 20 November 2017, the Invicta U19 netball team played Walthamstow Hall away in preparation for the County finals on Saturday 25 November. The team for the match included Ellie Brown, Alice Hill, Ellie Osborn, Alex Sykes, Evie Horner, Joelle Wilton, Ayishah Chaudry and Emma Worsfold.

The team worked really well together, and the match was a good opportunity for us to be able to try different combinations for the approaching tournament. Invicta secured a win of 26-17 and we look forward to trying to replicate this success.

14 November 2017

The U12 and U13 Netball Teams played away at Walthamstow Hall, Sevenoaks last Tuesday. This was the first match for the U12 age group, the girls played some excellent netball, resulting in a 7-3 win. Superb shooting came from Mia Saunders and strong centre court play came from Aoife Hyland (voted player of the match by Wally Hall). All girls played brilliantly and showed fantastic sportsmanship. A great start to the season.

The team consisted of; Ruby Brown, Sophie Tanner, Mia Saunders, Amelia Simpson-McGinty, Florence Christmas-Baxter, Surayya Laity, Aoife Hyland and Niamh Potts.

The U13 team also played to a very high standard. Excellent shooting from Hannah Dunnill and Natalie Thomas helped to secure a 12-1 victory, these girls were ably supported by brilliant centre court play from Amelie Coy and Nhyira Zigah (named player of the match by Wally Hall). Strong defence also kept the ball away from the opposition’s goal. Again, the girls did Invicta proud. Well done to all. The team consisted of; Alex Hannam, Nhyira Zigah, Hannah Dunnill, Natalie Thomas, Mary Bashford, Amelie Coy, Gabi Akinfaderin and Ayushma Rana.

11 November 2017

On Saturday, 11 November, our Junior and Intermediate Cross Country teams ran at the Regional Finals of this competition having qualified at the first round last month.

The Juniors battled hard in the wet conditions and were placed 5th overall, out of the 12 teams participating. A fantastic result for Anna Palmer, Annabel Young, Lily Crossley, Emma Ryan and Katie Evans.

By the time the Intermediates went out, the course conditions underfoot were even worse. Despite this, the team of Charlotte Young, Izzy Shelley, Billie Rouse and Millie Morris ran really well and finished 3rd overall, which qualifies them for the National Finals on 25 November. This puts them in the top 25 teams Nationally an amazing achievement and we wish them the best of luck the National Finals!

November 2017

Invicta's U14 and U16 badminton teams played in a tournament at New Line Learning with the teams final scores as 3/4th in each age group.

The Year 8 Junior team faced tough competition from Sevenoaks School and Walthamstow Hall School but played well, enjoying the extra height offered by the sports hall to improve their overhead clears. They finished 4th overall but were playing against Year 9 students so plan to get revenge next year! Well done to: Mary Bashford, Efia Appiah-Ashia, Annabel Young and Nhyira Zigah.

The Intermediate team was made up of four Year 10 students. They had close matches against St Simon Stock and Cornwallis winning both, but lost to Walthamstow Hall finishing 3rd overall.  Well done to: Isabelle Stapley, Lauren McManus, Maria Bragin and Lara Gough.

U19 netball team

27 September 2017

On Wednesday, 27 September the Under 19 Kent Schools Netball Tournament took place at Rainham
School for Girls. Our team included Ellie Brown, Alice Hill, Eloise Osborn, Alex Sykes, Evie
Horner, Emma Worsfold, Joelle Wilton, Ayishah Chaudry and Ewelie Lifanje. After the success of the
team last year getting through to the South-East Regional Finals, we were eager to repeat the
achievement of last year. Upon arrival we were apprehensive to see the standard of competition that
we would face throughout the day. Once we received our pool, we realised that our toughest matches
would be the last two of the day, Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Girls and Benenden School. It
was an intense day as we had 7 matches to play in the surprisingly warm weather! However, we are
proud to say that we won all of our matches, beating Benenden for the first time, securing our
place in the Kent Finals on Saturday, 25 November 2017.

The scores of each match were as follows:

Invicta vs St Dunstans College 14-3
Invicta vs Langley Park Boys School 22-3
Invicta vs Hayes 20-2
Invicta vs Weald of Kent 24-5

Year 9 rounders july

On Thursday 22 June, the Year 9 Rounders Team played in the Maidstone Schools Tournament, competing against Valley Park, Maplesden Noakes, St Simon Stock, and Cornwallis. The girls played extremely well, having put together a team at very short notice.

The score against Valley Park was 6½ - 3, against Maplesden 7½ - 4, against Cornwallis 8- 3 ½ and our only unfortunate loss was against St Simon Stock with a score of 3½ - 5.

Some superb batting came from Kitty Worsfold and excellent fielding from Zara Wheaton. Well done girls!

Year 9 rounders july

On Tuesday 20 June, the Year 8 Rounders Team played in the Maidstone Schools Tournament attended by Cornwallis, St Simon Stock and ourselves.

Our girls played fantastically in both games. Against Cornwallis, our girls’ strong fielding stopped our opponents from managing to score much at all. Olivia Moss at backstop and Grace Garret at 1st post, were on fine form managing to get several of the Cornwallis team out. Some brilliant batting saw our team score several good rounders from nicely placed hits, notable performances came from Bethany Brunton and Iyioluwa Ayoola. The final score for this game was 6 ½ - 2 ½ .

Against St Simon Stock, Invicta batted first, again on top form with some lovely powerful hits from Grace Garrett and Iyioluwa Ayoola. Invicta went into field in a strong position, faultless bowling and a great catch from Izzy Geall and some brilliant catches from Olivia Moss and Lizzie Crooks saw our girls get 7 of the St Simon Stock team out. The final score for this game was 7 – 3.

Excellent play girls, well done!

Year 10 had their first rounders tournament of the year on Thursday 15 June. They played against Valley Park, St Simon's Stock and Cornwallis.

The girls had their closest first match against St Simon's Stock, picking up a lot of half rounders due to the great fielding skills of the opposition. However, Invicta managed to win 5 and a half, to 4 and a half rounders.

They then played against Cornwallis, and had a good win of 4 and a half to 2 and a half rounders, achieving lots of rounders, as they had warmed up from the previous game.

Lastly, the girls competed against Valley Park in a 6 and a half to 3 and a half win, therefore winning the tournament.

Year 7 rounders  Year 8 rounders

On 25 May the Year 7 and 8 rounders teams played in a friendly tournament against other Maidstone Schools.

The Year 7 team played brilliantly, all working together superbly. They won each of their matches, with the scores as follows: against Maplesden 7-4, against The Holmesdale School 8½ - 4½ , and against St Simon Stock 7 – 4½ .

Outstanding batting came from Mary Bashford and a brilliant catch out in the field was taken by Hannah Dunnill.

The Year 8 team also played to a very high standard. They won both of their matches, against St Simon Stock the score was 7½ - 6 and against Maplesden 6½ - 6½ but as our girls had managed to get more players out than they did, we took the win.

Excellent batting came from Bethany Brunton and managing to get many of the opposition out each game was Grace Garrett.

A great start to the rounders season. Well done girls!

Athletics 24 may 2017

On 24 May, the Year 7 and 8 athletics teams had a match at Holmesdale School. There were 7 teams competing in the Year 7 event and 6 teams competing in the Year 8 event.

The Year 7 team won convincingly, comfortably winning the javelin (Mary Bashford), the long jump (Chloe Jane Fraser), the 1500m (Megan Ormiston), the 800m (Annabel Young) and the 100m (Chloe Jane Fraser), before an extremely exciting but victorious win in the relay.

The Year 8 competition was a lot closer with there being one point separating the top three teams going into the relay. We enjoyed some good wins in the following events, 1500m (Billie Rouse), 800m (Izzy Shelley) and 200m (Keira Rose). The girls performed brilliantly in the relay, winning that too, resulting in Invicta being victorious overall.

A brilliant result for the first fixture of the season for this age group. A big well done to all those involved!

Year 9 and 10 athletics

On 17 May, Year 9 and 10 team went to their first Maidstone School's Athletics Competition this year. Our Year 9 team was made up of Solape Tunde-Dauda, Rebecca Roodt, Lottie Sykes, Maria Bragin, Holly Newman and Lara Gough. This team did incredibly well in the events, coming 1st in 800, 300m, 200, javelin and relay, 2nd in shot, and 3rd in 100m and long jump. This gave us an overall 1st place position against 6 other schools.

Unfortunately, our Year 10 team only included 3 athletes, nevertheless all very talented, and consisted of Jasmine Etheridge, Izzy Fisher and Sophie Howell. They came 1st in their relay, 2nd in the 100m (we were extremely close to coming 1st - it was very exciting to watch!), and 3rd in 800m and long jump which again is a great achievement for the girls.

We would like to thank all the students who took part in the competition for their continued efforts and dedication to representing Invicta in sports teams.

Harrison Rowe in 12G took part in the Kent County Schools Golf Tournament, in May. The tournament was made up of a field of 46 boys ranging from Year 8 to Year 13. It was a Division One tournament, so the field was made up of very good golfers, some of which currently play for the county and England.

Harrison said that he had started off poorly with a front nine of 41 (6 over par) due to the windy conditions, However, he started off the back nine in good form, being 1 under par through the first 3 holes. He finished the round 9 over par which placed him second in the competition.

Well done to Harrison for this great achievement.

Employer Visit

On 26 April, some Year 8 students went to David Lloyd, Maidstone, to learn about the different roles within the fitness industry and explore the world of work. Whilst there, the girls had the chance to try out a taster session of 2 fitness classes, learn about the qualifications needed to become a personal trainer or a life guard, the perks and benefits of working within David Lloyd and how to progress within the company. The girls were also lucky enough to have a tour of the gym and try out some of the gym equipment including the vibrating power plate (which, needless to say, they all loved!).

By the end of the session, most of the students had decided they wanted to work in the health and fitness industry when they were older! Thank you to David Lloyd for making us all feel very welcomed, the ample information which was provided and for answering all of the students questions!

U15 netball 28 march 2017  U14 netball 28 march 2017

On 28 March our U15 netball team played against Kings Rochester in what was the most exciting match of the season! The team consisted of Izzy Fisher, Lizzy Morgan, Emily Bailey, Hollie Bath, Maddy Hill, Nadia Kamel and Jasmine Etheridge.

The defence from Kings was second to none, however the defence from Invicta was just that little bit better! Nadia Kamel was making some amazing interceptions as GK, preventing Kings from being able to score. Izzy Fisher was then our key player in bringing the ball up to the court towards our shooting end, allowing Emily Bailey and Maddy Hill to make some brilliant shots. Despite our efforts and commitment to the game, Kings were constantly in a 2 goal lead throughout the first 3 quarters of the match. However, during the final quarter, we upped our game even more, scoring 7 goals compared to Kings' 3! This meant that the final score of the match was 20-18 to Invicta! Well done to all the team for your hardwork and dedication this year to Netball.

On 28 March our U14 netball team also played against Kings Rochester in what was another brilliant game. The team consisted of Sadie Page, Solape Tunde-Dauda, Kitty Worsfold, Annabel Williamson, Sophie Thexton, Megan Reynolds and Hannah Starck. The students showed amazing commitment and dedication to the game and worked extremely well together. The defence was brilliant, preventing Kings from having a lot of opportunities to get the ball down their end, whilst the attacking players made a great effort at constantly bringing the ball up to our shooing end. The overall score of the match was 21- 3 to Invicta! Another brilliant achievement for this age group's last match of the season. Well done to all the girls who have been involved in netball this year and for the hard work you have put into the team.

U14 maidstone schools netball

On 16 March, our U14 A and B team competed in the Maidstone Schools Netball Tournament. There were 7 teams participating in the tournament, with 2 teams coming from Invicta and 2 teams coming from MGGS. Both teams put up a good fight, but with such short games, were not able to get to properly get into the games that they played so were not able to play to their full potential. Our A team had a good mid-court team to enable the ball to get passed to the attacking end on numerous occasions however, our GS and GA were very unlucky with shots hitting the rim of the posts as opposed to going in! Our B team had a strong defence team with Evie Hinde making some brilliant interceptions, however again, we were not able to score enough goals.

Our B team came 5th in the tournament, with MGGS A and B team and St Simon's Stock coming ahead of them, whereas our A team came 2nd, narrowing missing out on 1st place to MGGS A team.

Well done to all the girls who took part, it was a great team effort from everyone and I hope you all enjoyed the tournament!

U14 and U15 Netball

On 14 March, Invicta's U14 and U15 netball teams played matches against Highsted School. The U14 team got off to a good start, intercepting Highsted’s first centre pass to go onto scoring their first goal by Hannah. There were some good interceptions taking place around the court by a number of players including Sadie and Kitty, which meant Invicta were constantly winning the ball, giving them chances to score. Although Invicta had some inaccurate passes during the match, sometimes giving the ball away, and they were up against a strong defence team from Highsted, Invicta still went on to win 13-8. Well done to all the team.

The U15’s played an outstanding match against Highsted with the defence being on fire! Nadia Kamel and Jasmine Etheridge were constantly making interceptions which prevented Highsted from very rarely being able to get the ball into their shooting area. Our strong midfield playing by Izzy, Emma and Lizzy meant that Invicta were able to pass the ball successfully to the shooting area on numerous occasions for Emily and Kate to make some blinding shots! Their amazing team work, effort throughout the entire match, and positive approach to winning meant that Invicta achieved a 14-4 victory.

2017 6th form boys football

On 13 March, the Invicta Boys team travelled to MGGS for a well-awaited football match.

The game kicked off and the Invicta boys got off to a good start, with Matt Spry coming close to scoring 2 or 3 times but the MGGS keeper making great saves. It didn’t take long for Invicta to break the deadlock through a cracking strike from James Brooker straight into the top right-hand corner of the goal. MGGS then had their chance to score but thanks to Anu and Angel’s solid defensive work, they were able to cut out that chance.

The second goal from Invicta came from a beautiful through ball from the midfield up to Matt, who calmly took it round the keeper and tapped the ball into the net. Unfortunately, the next action in the game was a bad one, Matt was 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper and once again took it round him, but as the keeper dived to get the ball, unfortunately he hit his head on Matt’s knee. It was at this point half time was called.

The second half began and Invicta scored almost instantaneously through Josh Kamara but was helped into the goal by their centre-back. One minute later, the referee deemed the keeper unfit to carry on, consequently calling the match off.

The final score was a 3-0 win to Invicta. A great effort after only their second match. Thank you to all the supporters who came to watch our match and to Tia Walby for being a great referee!

U19 Netball

On Sunday 29 January, the U19 Netball team participated in the South East and London Regional Finals at Redbridge Sports Centre in Essex. The first match was an extremely close game with the girls fighting hard and working brilliantly as a team, narrowing missing out on a 13-10 loss.  This was a magnificent achievement considering the school they were playing against was a Netball Academy, who are trained by Kadeen Corbin (an England Netball player)!  Despite the wet and cold weather, and the tough competition that the girls were up against, they were superb with great attacking skills and some brilliant interceptions.  Although unfortunately the girls did not make it through to the National’s, the team achieved 6th place in the South East and London region and have done Invicta incredibly proud.

The results are below:

Barking Abbey vs Invicta– 13-10
Alleyn’s School vs Invicta – 10-5
Benenden vs Invicta – 9-5
Lady Eleanor Holles vs Invicta – 4– 8

U19 Netball

On Saturday 26 November, the U19 Netball team played in the Kent Finals at Rainham School for Girls, having qualified 1st in their group from the preliminary round.

The girls faced a tough battle with lots of private schools also competing in the tournament. However, they started the day off well with a 7-7 draw against Sevenoaks, a school we thought would be our toughest opposition. They continued to play well, having an excellent defence, and great teamwork. The results were as follows:

Colfes - 7-7
Hillview - 8-4 win
Sevenoaks - 7-7
TOGS - 10-7 win
TWGGS - 6-1 win
Walthamstow Hall - 13-5 win

The results means the girls have qualified for the Regional Finals on Sunday 29 January at Redbridge, Essex. This is a fantastic achievement for the girls, and we wish them every success in the Regional Finals.

On 29 November, 4 teams of athletes from Year 7 and 8 competed in the Area Sportshall Athletics competition at Mote Park. Students have been working on their skills during lessons and at club since September and this was clearly reflected in their performances. In both age groups we had two teams competing in a variety of events including sprints, relays, jumps, speed bounce and shot putt. We had some amazing results with Invicta winning all but one event and taking second place as well in a number of them. Overall the teams were placed 1st and 2nd in each age group and have now qualified for the Kent Finals to be held in February. They are continuing to train in preparation for this and we are hoping for a good result.

The lunchtime club is open to any students who wish to try the sport or try and improve, it is also good preparation for the summer athletics.

U14 Hockey Team

On Thursday 17 November, Invicta's U14 Hockey team played Cornwallis. The team has improved considerably since last year, with the girls making some very good passes to each other. During the first half, both teams were extremely even, having equal possession of the ball and playing very well. Unfortunately, during the second half, Cornwallis scored a goal which put them in the lead. Invicta continued to play with great enthusiasm and effort, however did not manage to score a goal. The match ended with a 1-0 win to Cornwallis.

Well done to all the girls in the team, and Alex Penry who has been coaching the girls.

The team consisted of Hannah Starck,  Maddie Stratton, Lottie Sykes, Kitty Worsfold, Sadie Page, Sophie Thexton, Solape Tunde-Dauda and Rebecca Roodt. The girls had a very strong pool which they were entered into, having to play a total of 7 games. Although the girls worked extremely hard in all of their matches, they missed out on going through to the next stage of the competition. The girls demonstrated a lot of skills and tactics throughout the game and worked extremely well together. The effort between Hannah Starck and Lottie Sykes in the D to shoot was brilliant, helping Invicta get many goals.

Well done to all the team for their great sportsmanship and efforts.

Lucy Chapman in 8S passed her 2kyu Karate grading last weekend. This was a really great achievement for Lucy especially as she has recently returned to her karate after a two year break. Well done Lucy!
